Minnetonka Theatre and ICA partner to provide turkey dinners for local families

Minnetonka Theatre and ICA Food Shelf are partnering during the theatre’s high school production of OLIVER! to help provide turkey dinners for 1,000 local families in need this holiday season.

“When we chose OLIVER! as our fall musical, we decided to close the run with a special Giving Thanks performance on Thanksgiving weekend. With the production’s theme of human connection and the central role of food in the show, partnering with ICA’s turkey dinner program is the perfect way for us to give thanks by giving back,” said Trent Boyum, Artistic Director at Minnetonka Theatre.

When theatre-goers purchase their tickets to OLIVER!, they will have an option to add a donation for turkey dinners. A donation of $25 provides one family with everything needed to prepare a holiday dinner, complete with a turkey, side dishes, fresh produce and dessert.

“Our turkey program will help provide holiday meals to more than 1,000 families this holiday season, and we are so grateful for the community support. I love the creative thinking connecting OLIVER! to the hunger support programs in our community and can’t wait to see how much we can raise for our turkey program this year,” said Matt Dymoke, Director of Development and Communications at ICA.

OLIVER! is Lionel Bart's classic musical based on the Charles Dickens novel, "Oliver Twist." This Tony and Olivier Award-winning show is one of the few musicals to win an Academy Award for Best Picture and is widely hailed as a true theatrical masterpiece by actors and audience members alike. Songs include: 'Where is Love, Consider Yourself, I'd Do Anything, As Long as He Needs Me' and, of course, the title song 'Oliver!'
