For the twelfth year in a row, Minnetonka Public Schools has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation, recognizing the District’s outstanding commitment to music education.
NAMM celebrates schools, teachers and community leaders for their strong efforts in supporting music education and integrating many diverse and advanced music classes into the school's core curriculum.
The Best Communities for Music Education program evaluates schools and districts based on funding, staffing of highly qualified teachers, commitment to standards and access to music instruction. Through this rigorous evaluation, NAMM honors the best schools in the nation for music education.
“It is always such a joy to reflect upon the vast array of opportunities that the music department offers our students each year, as well as Minnetonka’s commitment to music education,” shared Jena Menke, the District’s vocal department chair, about the recognition.
“I am so proud of our teachers, students and community for earning this honor,” said David Law, Superintendent of Minnetonka Public Schools. “It speaks to the longstanding commitment and caring dedication of our teachers and school leaders to support students’ pursuit of excellence in all areas of their education, not only in music, but also in their academic and social-emotional development, which music education can positively impact.”
“Music education has numerous positive effects on communities,” said John Mlynczak, NAMM president and CEO and former educator, in a press release about this honor. “The Best Communities for Music Education award winners serve as models for the power of music education to foster a lifelong appreciation for the arts, and NAMM is honored to recognize the 2025 recipients.”
“We are thrilled to recognize this year’s awardees for their outstanding commitment to music education access,” Julia Rubio, Executive Director of The NAMM Foundation, shared in the release. “These districts and schools demonstrate that access to music learning helps students thrive, in school and in life, and we celebrate their dedication to creating inclusive learning environments.”
Minnetonka Schools is honored to receive this recognition and continually works to inspire students to excel in music and arts education.
